Someone i know told me me she watched Eiga Sai 2008 (the 2nd run this year i believe coz Eiga Sai is held twice a year annually at Shang). For some dammned reason i wasn't able to check out JMFO site to have update on it. Every year I salivate in anticipation to watch Eiga Sai films, this year marks the first time I missed out watching the 1rst anfd second and now Im missing my marbles because of it (figuratively speaking). Now I have to do a cinematic hara-kiri, Toshiro Mifune style. :( This is another feel good song, just like a good sunday morning walk. great intro :) Import.flv (7.4 MB)

A tour of Manila, Philippines in the 1930s. Again, Another glimpse of Peacetime Manila Import.flv (19.0 MB)
A Tour of Manila, Philippines in the 1930s. Another glimpse of what Manila was before the WWII. The Traditional Baro't saya for women is vogue just like Japanese women wear their elaborate kimonos. My alma Mater, FEATI Univ wasn't built then and Jones Bridge sports a different look. It has statues on its entrance and sides, a far cry from what it is now. Manila looks like the Big Apple of 1930s then. Beauty of the city that only exist now in Filipino memories. Arrrrrrghhhh! Import.flv (25.1 MB)
This was Peacetime Manila or "Pistaym" when my Grandma use to remember and tell me about it (tipong nang iingit, hehehehehe), rivers ,esteros, seas are clean. Roxas Blvd was known as Dewey Blvd then. Even w/o traffic signs and signals, Traffic jams is none existent. Ozone layer is pink of health. U can stay at hotels for a few pesos, have a hearty lunch or dinner for 1 peso. Inflation wasn't astronomical, and you can wash your clothes on the shores of Pasig river. Tranvia was existent in the streets of Divisoria to Recto (nowadays only the rails was all left in its memory). All of this went pffft when Japan invaded and Americans almost leveled down Philippines in the 40s. History is such a fickle and cruel mistress. She will cradle you in her arms and in a flash dump you in a river to survive on your own. Ouch. Import.flv (15.1 MB)
